This project was to provide more space, and improve the internal circulation of a traditional country cottage.
Due to its location, the creation of the extension meant building into the 3m high bank to the rear of the property, creating a retaining wall structure that served as the rear walls to the ground-floor part of the extension, which was then tanked, using both bituminous liquid, and polyethylene profiled sheeting. The first floor was then cantilevered over this structure, with a ground beam supporting the rear, first floor cavity wall.
