An exciting new Art Room is being planned for the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability in Putney. The existing facility is tired and in need of updating; a larger room, in a more prominent location, has become available and this room is to be refurbished to provide a new space for residents to enjoy. Residents can partake in drawing, painting and crafts and the classes provide important therapy and stimulation for residents, which allows them to express themselves in different mediums.
Fundraising continues for the fit-out, which includes new workstations, storage and moveable display boards so that residents can show off their work to other residents, staff and visitors. The room benefits from plenty of natural light from its tall windows, which are to be restored as well as new, energy-efficient artificial lighting. It is hoped that work will start on the new facility in the Spring of 2011.
