Planning Permission Granted

Planning permission has recently been granted for a 65-bed elderly person's care home, along with eleven assisted-living cottages, in Hawkhurst, Kent. This was a major planning application and as well as the new buildings on the site, the road junction adjacent to the site is to be re-aligned to improve traffic safety.

The site is currently home to a derelict former care insitution. It is in an Area of Outstanding natural Beauty and the new care home will provide bedrooms designed to current care standards..

The assisted-living cottages are for use by the over 60s and they are arranged in a courtyard setting. The development stands in its own grounds which will be managed by the care home to be enjoyed collectively by the residents.

A ground-source heat pump is to be incorporated into the scheme and it is intended that this contributes a minimum of ten percent of the energy used on the site. .
